Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology Character/Class FAQ!
By Kiko
=====
Intro
=====
This FAQ is based on the Japanese version of the game. It will not include any
info on the story, events, missions or items that appear throughout the game.
What it DOES have is info on the various Characters and Mercenary classes in
the game, I have Romanized, Localized, and Kanji/Kana tech names for the players
importing this that might be familiar with those. And there are character notes
for those curious about how some old and new faces play in the game!
Feel free to email me with corrections, my romanizations tend to be VERY bad,
and I can use all the help and pointers I can get. For the most part though,
established Tales moves should have their romanizations down correctly, but I’m
not sure about the new stuff (like in the Thief and Ninja class), since they
really just sound dumb to me..
==============
Update History
==============
3/29/07 - Not really my FIRST revision since I’ve been working on this since
like December, but it’s my first published one. I have all of the techs in and
a barebones explaination of the skill system.
3/30/07 - Eeek. I left out two characters and everyones hi-ougis. Added those
and included incomplete character notes.
4/1/07 - Right, so this is actually the first version I’m submitting to
GameFAQs
I figure that if I throw in the Character Notes, it’d be more add worthy, oh,
and I added the localized tech names, big big addition there.
4/8/07 - Added comparisons between Tales characters and the Mercenary Class
generic equivalents, also added more notes, fixed some lists.
6/30/07 - Added skills for Stahn and Archer Class, fixed other tech lists,
fixed the hi-ougi explaination because it was messy. Fixed names for various
skills. Ninja and Thief are looking good finally.
8/1/07 - Added more character notes. Added some tech names caught from
videos. Added a ton of US names and terms. Fixed silly mistake of giving two
skills
the same US name. Added Eugene’s list of skills, actually missed an attack. Got
tons of help from lace-chan, I wouldn’t have been able to get this out so fast
without
him.
8/5/07 - Added a quick note on how to do hi-ougis, and a few more character
notes.
=================
Things Left To Do
=================
- Finish comparing each Character/Class to their respective games’
version of themselves.
- Include notes on various misc gameplay notes on characters
- Patch up things here and there
- Add US names.
- Possibly describe each tech.
===================
How are Techs Used?
===================
Techs and Spells in this game work just like they do in Tales of Symphonia
The family rule does not apply here in some cases, they can be linked
together SOMETIMES.
There are three levels of spells and techs
Tokugi (Base) \
Higi (Master) >For Skills
Ougi (Arcane) /
Skills can only be linked in ascending order. For example, Bases can be
linked into Masters, which can linked into Arcanes. However Arcane’s cannot be
linked into Base’s or Master’s.
So all in all a possible combo for someone like Kratos can be:
Majinken -> Senkuureppa -> Gurenken
Spells cannot be comboed together and have a casting time where the character
is essentially “charging” the spell up. As of yet, I’m not aware of spells
having a classification (Like Novice, Mid, and High as in other Tales),
however it’s definitely easy to notice that weaker spells have a lower casting
time than stronger ones. Spell casting times remain inconsistent for the most
part
I’ve observed that some spell casting times are delayed for no reason for some
spells (nothing else is on the screen) while others are casted at the same time
as other high level spells. Also while I had observed the one spell at time rule
at one point, this was totally disproven later on, and I blame the wierd casting
times for this, the game is unclear on how many spells can be on the screen at
once, when I figure this out, I’ll update this.
So if you keep that in mind on top of the really horrible casting times, a
character like Rutee doesn’t really compliment your Magic Knight, as you’ll both
fight to get your spells out, and her spell list covers nearly everything
you’ll need. So while you’ll probably want to nuke something with Thunder Blade,
you might actually delay her curing someone, or curing status ailments, or
trying
to pitch in with her own magic. To keep it short, try to stick with one caster
for your group, you really won’t like the spell casting times.
==================================
How do I do Hi-Ougis/Mystic Artes?
==================================
Hi-Ougis/Mystic Artes have different requirements depending on the character
used.
First, learn them:
- Tales Characters learn theirs at level 45.
- Mercenary Characters learn theirs at different levels, and must master every
tech in their class (use them all 50 times).
Then, to activate them:
- Melee Characters have to activate Overlimit (Press L and R), then use an
Arcane
Arte and hold the tech button to execute their Hi-Ougi. They need atleast 100 TP
for this.
- Spell Casting Characters have to activate Overlimit (Press L and R) then use
a spell to activate them, while the spell is being charged, hold the tech
button.
If it is done with less than 100 TP, it will drain all of their TP.
Characters that do not learn a Hi-Ougi obviously cannot do them, these
characters are: Chester, Arche, Eugene, and Senel.
Note: For the US version, all hi-ougis will take up 1 TP.
Note: Also, if other characters in Overlimit, you will not be able to enter it
as well
======================
Notes on the tech list
======================
I have each class/character’s attacks divided into attack classification, that
way it’l be easier to think about a combo you’d want to chain together. The
first name given is a romanization of the Japanese name, basically what the
character would shout out if they said the move name. The second name given
is the US name, usually the most recent localization of the tech, when the
game comes out in the US (due soon!), I’ll replace ALL the US names with
whatever the game decides to use. Theoretically I can do this now with videos
that have been released, but I’ll wait till the game is released to fix those
up. Lastly is the Japanese name, followed by the TP cost (first japanese,
second US)
and an element if applicable. Levels are actually estimated and have been
gathered from sources and whenever I can remember I actually noticed them on
the tech list ^^;;
===============================
Notes on changes to the US game
===============================
The US release has seen many changes to the game, these are mostly added
lag at the end of attacks, so some things may not chain together easily
anymore. Another thing is reduced TP costs, these apply to melee techs
so far, I haven’t seen reduced TP costs with spells, so the US TP cost
is listed after the Japanese TP cost, so if something takes 14/4 TP, then
it costs 4 TP for the US version and 14 for the JP version. Also all Mystic
Artes will
take up 1 TP.

- Crescent Strike is Presea’s version, the anti-air, not Guy’s.
- Warrior Class is a mix between Luke and Presea containing
13 Luke techs
5 Presea techs
3 Original or not-Luke/Presea tech.
- Note that even though there are quite a few Presea moves in here,
they do work differently to the point where it’s sort of an alternate
and reworked Luke.

- In comparison to Reid, this class is missing:

Cyclone Seal |Fuujin Bakufuu
Raijin Souhazan |Thunder Tiger Blade
Majin Senretsuha |Demonic Sword Rain
Hou’ou Tenku |Rising Falcon (not a big deal, it’s just not on fire)
- However it DOES have the following that Reid does not:
Shunjinken |Sonic Thrust
Kuuhashou |Super Sonic Thrust
Majin Kuugashou |Demonic Thrust
Reppuu Kuugashou |Tempest Thrust
Hiten Shouku |Rising Falcon (see above)
Shu’u Souhazan |Raining Tiger Blade
Shu’u Majinken |Sword Rain Demon
- Taking the above into account, it’s pretty much a Reid + Lloyd (one sword)
mix with a Chloe tech.
- Meikuu Zanshouken is different than how Cless did it. The ending jump now
has a slash at the end.

Notes

- Yay look! It’s Souhajin and Garen Souhajin from ToD2! (recolored blue ;_;)
- Okay, Death Spiral works like this, according to Lace-chan:
——————————————————————-
* The more hits you do the more Gald that gets taken or given with |
a limit of 500 Gald. |
* The supposed formula is # of hits multiplied by LUK, divided by |
10, subtract that value by 500. [(# of hits * LUK) / 10] - 500. |
* This gives you the rough average of what you will get or lose. |
* However LUK changes every second you are in battle so actually |
determining what it is will be rough. |
* You do not have to connect with the initial stab and uppercut |
for the rest of the Mystic Arte to execute. |
* You will not lose any Gald if you completely miss because zero |
divided by any number is zero. |

Rondo Funryuurengeki | Whirlwind Blast

[Notes]
- This class has 5 Nanaly techs, they’re all Arcanes.
- This class has 5 Chester techs, they’re all Bases.
- Thrust Arrow -> Trust Arrow is quite the bad mistake in naming, the attack has
nothing to do with trust.
- Healing Rain will recover 15% of your allies’ HP, the equivalent of .. half of
an
Apple Gel.
- Harvest Rain will recover 30% of your allies’ HP, the equivalent of an Apple
Gel
- Life Stealer will absorb HP for you equivalent to about 1/5 of the damage
done.
- Gale Shot’s number of arrows is based on your level, thanks to Lace-chan we
have a list
for this!

[Notes]
- Hurrah, the first fully full full developed Ninja class! And yet it still
feels just as wierd as Suzu and Jay felt..
- Ninja took Cyclone Seal from Sheena and Rid, sadly it looks exactly like
Air Blade and spawns immediately on execution. That’s all. Pretty much an
entirely different attack.
- Ninja ALSO took Fuujin Fuubakusatsu from Rid, but not only is it not a
hi-ougi anymore, it looks completely different. It starts with the Fuujin
Bakufuu, then at the end they teleport upwards and spiral down in flames.
- Fuuma Kuinken|Nine Seal’s first slash must hit for the rest of the attack to
trigger
- The Ninja has what is possibly the most easiest and safest Mystic Arte
trigger in the game, use Shintoumekkyaku|Samadhi to trigger it.

[Notes]
- Arche is actually 100% faithful to her Phantasia version, but..well..she is
full size now, so she can’t quite dodge things easily as far as her size and
aerial ability goes, but thanks to this game taking enemies from Abyss, you
mostly have small sized stuff to deal with.
- Earthquake is no longer fullscreen.
- Maelstrom is no longer fullscreen.
- Thunder Blade is ..clearly different than the Phantasia version, it only
affects a
certain circular area now
- Ray is no longer fullscreen.
- Eruption is no longer fullscreen and there no more aerial projectiles that
fall down
afterwards
- Since Phantasia, Grave has been given quite the upgrade and doesn’t function
like a
low level spell anymore
- Ice Needle only fires three projectiles now, and they’re much bigger now.
- Stone Blast now comes from the ground
- Lightning is no longer fired from an angle
- Only three Fire Balls are fired from Fire Ball now.

[Notes]
- Stahn can no longer link his techs together as he could in Destiny Remake
- Stahn is missing:
Majinken Shouga (It was a version where he’d jump in the air and fire down
a Majinken diagnally)
Shakkouken (A grab move)
Hyogetsu Shousen (Well, it was kind of an optional move in the Remake)
Resshin Tenshou (Same thing here)
Goushourai (This has a special requirement to do, sad to see him not
have it here though)
Hiou Zetsuenshou (hi-ougi)
Gouma Kaijinken (hi-ougi)
Zankuu Tenshouken (hi-ougi)
- Stahn is also missing his Aerial Shoujutsu, which are:
Flame Shooter
Blaze Beast
Raging Flare
Volcanic Rage
- Satsugeki Bukouken is no longer a hi-ougi
- Stahn lands fast enough after launching Gurenken, that it’s hard
to tell that he launched a projectile.
- Maou Engekiha’s is reduced.
- (US Version only) for some reason, Stahn will say “Razing Phoenix” for Phoenix
which is what Guy’s Mystic Arte was called, but Guy’s Mystic Arte is Houou
Tenshouyoku, not Kouou Tenshouyoku, and regardless, it goes against their
name.
- (US Version only) Thunder Beast?! That is an incredibly WRONG translation for
that skill.
It should be Firey Beast like Symphonia. Shikou BakuRAIjin has
thunder in it, not Shikou BakuENjin, which mentions fire.

- Eugene is actually the only character not adapted to the three tech chaining
system, which is probably good for people that were using him in Rebirth
- What Eugene previously had as Light element attacks are now mostly Wind
element
(Radiant Mythology’s element list is rather basic, and Rebirth’s Light element
included Lightning attacks)
- Ren Kyoumeidan and Ren Koutaisou (The stances) aren’t exactly Base (or Arcane)
attacks, but to
save myself from creating a seperate category for them, I threw them in the
Base
category. They cannot be linked into any other tech.
- Eugene is missing:
Tenraisou | Thunder Lance (…uh.. whoa? He gets the uber Arcane spinoffs of
this, even Jade
had it in Abyss after it’s debut in Rebirth, but he
doesn’t get it here?
that doesn’t make ANY sense)

- Tear is missing:
Invoke Aqua/Ground/Flame/Gale (no FoFs in in this game anyways)
Force Field
- Tear has no Arcanes (Severed Fate and Banish Sorrow used to be her Arcanes
however Abyss worked on a two skill system anyways (Base -> Arcane)
- Tear has no FoF skills except for Meditation, that move is standalone now.
- You can tell if Tear is casting a Fuka (Hymn) or a Spell based on her
spell casting pose. For those of you that haven’t played Abyss, she has two
spell casting poses, one for Nightmare, Holy Song, Judgment, Grand Cross, and
Revitalize. All other spells use her other spell casting poses.
Enter this code as your player name in the Origional Rondo of Blood game to unlock the Level Select option on the menu and skip to any Level in the game. Just like the symphony of the night Luck code, this is where it all started.
X-X!V”Q : Level Select for Rondo of Blood
After clearing the game as Alucard for the first time, you can start special modes by entering a specific name when you select a new game.
Password Effect
MARIA Play as Maria Renard
AXEARMOR Play as Alucard, with the Axe Lord armor
X-X!V”Q Play as Alucard, with 99 luck and the Lapis lazuli (+20 luck) accessory (completing the game isn’t required)
RICHTER Play as Richter Belmont
The original game “Peke” was introduced in the original Chi No Rondo as a bonus game if you used the wrong System Card.
This is the third original game that can be unlocked.
First, you need to select NORMAL BOSS RUSH mode.
Beat it two times, you will receive two Sound Discs.
The third time fight until you defeat Shaft and defeat the next boss, at the end of the fight you should be rewarded with original game “Peke”.
Access it from the main screen like the other original games.
I advice to use Maria and her Dragon sub-weapon to fastly defeat the bosses.
In Stage 2, while the minotaur is chasing Richter, there is a candlestick that contains the “key” subweapon. Make sure to get it, and then proceed down into the sewers after the minotaur is blocked by the wall. At the very end of the sewer path, there is a locked door. Use the key subweapon and it will unlock, giving you a cinematic scene where Maria joins Richter. She is now selectable as a playable character in the main menu.
Go to stage 4.
On your way through twards the end of the stage you will find 6 of those skulls that spit fire stacked on top of each other. Just past them is a platform that moves like an inverted pengelium going left and right. Just opposite of it is a spiked ball. Get on the platform and jump over the spiked ball landing on the ground against the wall. Break the lower part of the wall to find a bomb. Hit the bomb to ingite it and the wall will come falling down.
Walk forward a bit and you will find 2 spiked platforms that try to crush you. Get on the right platform and as it’s going up jump off of it and land on the upper level. Stay on top avoiding the axes and the yellow eye. At the very end of that platform is a candle hit it and inside will be some classic gaming goodness.
In Stage 2, while the minotaur is chasing Richter, immediately fall into the first hole in the ground. You will not die, but instead be taken into the sewers. Play the level out normally and defeat the boss. Afterwards, you will be taken to Stage 3′ (this is different from the normal Stage 3!).
In Stage 3′, whenever the path branches, taken the upper route. Make sure you obtain the “axe” subweapon sometime during the stage. Eventually, you will meet a skeletal snake that is attached to a wall. Nearby is a vine-like cage; use the axe to cut it. It now serves as a platform for Richter to jump to the upper ledges. Continue along the upper ledges until you see a breakable tombstone. Inside is the item that unlocks Symphony of the Night. Return to the main menu to play it.
To keep your default inventory at the beginning of the game ( the stuff that Death takes), you must first beat the game once and use the advanced luck cheat. Proceed right until you reach the room just before you meet Death for the first time. Kill the first two Wargs( giant wolves) or jump over them, and then jump over the third, but don’t kill it. Now, get into your inventory and unequip all of your items,EXCEPT the Lapis Lazuli. Exit the inventory and continue. Jump into the last Warg. If you’ve done this correctly, you’ll be sent flying across the next screen, past Death and into the next room, with all of your equipment! DON’T FALL IN THE GAP IN THE FLOOR ABOVE YOU!!!
If you do, the glitch will not work.
If you’re looking for a useful tip to get through the game easily, consider the following glitch. This glitch allows you to pass through walls, floors, across pits, and more. You can basically bypass almost everything once you fall through the floor. Useful to get through some tough areas full of annoying monsters, to obtain some items not possible early in the game and/or to obtain others easily. In order to accomplish this glitch successfully, you must first head to any staircase. Climb up to the middle of the stairs and stop. Then, walk back down to the lowest step.
From here, press down, and then quickly press backwards (pressing both simultaneously). If done properly, the character will have a foot on the stairs and another foot in or underneath or behind the floor you’re trying to breach (that the stairs are connected to). When you see this, release back on the d-pad, and the character will fall completely through the floor to a glitched area underneath the stage.
If the glitch doesn’t work, make sure of two things: that your character isn’t facing the staircase, and that you’re pressing down and backwards simultaneously. Also keep in mind that depending on where you are, the glitch may not work properly. You may get stuck and have to reset the game in certain areas. Maria is also preferable to Richter because she can jump higher and hence get out of these glitched areas more easily.
She’s found in Alternate Stage 4.
Simply keep going through the stage (do not go down the waterfall on the raft yet). Go all the way across this part of the stage until you notice a blue frog. Don’t kill it. Instead jump over/avoid it and let it stay close. It will follow to the end of this particular part of the stage to a row of frog statues. It will jump on the only pillar that doesn’t have a frong statue on it and lower a plateform in the middle of this section of the stage. Go down the stairs and follow the path until you get to the end where there is a gate. Iris is awaiting there.
She’s found in Alternate Stage 3:
Go through the stage until you get to the very end of the first half. You’ll see your first door and a small plateform underneath that appears to be a dead end. Simply jump under the door and hit the wall, from the top to the bottom. Go down the stairs there and you’ll save Tera.
Richter’s whip can be extended secretly!
If you press forward two times just after pressing the attack button, Richter’s whip will extend slightly, making it easier to hit some enemies. You’ll know it works when the whip turns white during the animation. It can also be done while jumping and crouching, you just have to hold the crouch button while pressing forward two times.
Annette is located in Stage 7. You first need to rescue Terra and Iris to be able to do this.
In the first room of the clock tower section, break the red pillar statue and push the switch behind it. Next, climb to the top where there’s a small cog wheel and locked door in the upper right corner. Hit the cog wheel until the door opens and enter that. In this next area, kill the hawk to obtain the key. Hold on to it for now.
Next, in the last room of the clock tower section, you’ll see a locked door. DO NOT USE THE KEY here (as its a fake room) and instead proceed upward until you see a crystal pillar blocking another switch. Like before, break the pillar to push the switch. Now go back down to where the locked door is. If done correctly, a new area should have opened up below with another locked door below the first one. Open the new/lowest locked door and after a cutscene, you’ll save Annette.
You can come back here again in later playthroughs to find a room with several candles that drop moneybags and the Stopwatch subweapon if you’re using Richter.
